Jeera aloo (Cumin potato side)





Potatoes are a happy addition to any meal. Thankfully they are available all year around! There are many ways to deliciously enjoy this tuber and the following two step recipe is one of the equally quick and delicious recipes. The specialty of this recipe is the cumin seeds and if butter is used instead of oil to cook these are addictive! Cumin seeds are the star of this recipe and its aroma and distinct flavor is what makes this a favourite.

Ingredients:
4-5 medium potatoes
2-3 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
4-5 Curry leaves (optional)
1 chopped green chilly
1 tsp red chilly powder
Salt to taste
Butter OR Oil for tempering

Serves: 
Total cook time: 15 mins
Recipe:

1. To the preheated butter or oil, add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add curry leaves and green chillies (optional).

2. Add diced potatoes, mix, add turmeric, red chilly powder and salt.

3. Add little water to the pan, cover with lid and cook till the potatoes are soft about 10-15 minutes. The cumin flavored potatoes are ready to eat!!
